English is one of the most desired skills amongst jobseekers, and as part of the efforts to make it's unemployed more employable, La Unión is investing in giving these extra skills to 18 of its residents.
A course in English for dealing with the General Public (“Inglés: atención al público”) is being held in the town for 18 jobless people.
The course, which is organized by the Town Hall with subsidies from the employment office and the FSE, will last a total of 210 classroom hours, and the aims are to enable those taking part to become competent in attending to customers in English, welcoming them, identifying their needs and providing assistance verbally or in writing (by fax, email, etc). Other modules included are job-seeking, environmental awareness and sex equality awareness.
The course is being run in the computer room of the Pabellón Deportivo in Calle Carrera de Irún, between 9.30 and 13.30 from Mondays to Thursdays.
