The Museum of Fuente Álamo has an exhibition in the basement sala at the moment, dedicated to the subject of comic art. This is part of a series of roving exhibitions promoted by the Region of Murcia cultural department, showing various aspects of the Regional collections which is touring the Museums of the Region at the moment.
It's a fascinating exhibition, reminding us that we are surrounded by art in every way possible during our daily lives, everyday objects which we took for granted as children, are graphically visual images which sum up the era in an instantly recognisable fashion.
Although the joy of wandering around these comics is the memories they conjure up, they really art superb pieces of artwork when viewed in that context, so even though there appears at first glance to be little in the sala, it's surprising how easy it is to be engrossed in the images, and
remember following some of the stories and characters ( a worryingly large number of few years ago.)
This exhibition will remain in situ until the 24th June.
Take time out to have a look upstairs at the Museum's collection of contemporary art, acquired via the annual painting competition, which has attracted entrants from some of the region's most important artists over the last 30 years, accumulating an impressive collection which represents the evolution of art within the Region.
