A 49-year-old man from Cartagena was arrested by the Policía Local this weekend on charges of setting fire to ten rubbish containers in the city.
The alarm was raised by residents of Calle Burgos, who alerted police to three burning containers, and when officers arrived in the area they discovered seven more bins in flames nearby. Soon afterwards they saw a man running away towards Calle Pedro Sánchez, and when they apprehended him he confessed to being the arsonist.
The man has a previous police record, and is now awaiting trial on charges of causing damage to the bins and nearby cars, shops and buildings.
