Alhama de Murcia Tapas Route, 17th February to 4th March.

25 different tapas and 11 cocktails are on offer in this route.

The Bars and Restaurants of Alhama de Murcia are holding a Tapas Route, which is  taking place between the 17th February and the 4th March 2012.

This is a Tapas Route which includes both Tapas and cocktails, and is a fun way of flushing out all those hidden bars and restaurants in the back streets of town.

There are 25 bars taking part in the Tapas route and 11 in the cocktail route.

Tapas and a drink costs 2 euros, ( usually a beer or soft drink) and tapas alone, without the drink, is 1.50 euros.

Cocktails are 2 euros.

As is normal with these tapas events, a route card is produced which is available from the participating bars and restaurants as well as the tourist office in the middle of town, showing where all the bars are located and their speciality tapas.

Simply pick whatever takes your fancy, and off you go.

To incentivize participants to try as many of the gastronomic delights on offer as possible, a prize draw is held at the end of the route for those who have visited at least 12 tapas bars, and 3 cocktail bars, making a total of 15.

Each time the participant visits  an establishment and orders the tapas or cocktail on the route card, the tapas presented is given a mark out of 5, 5 being the highest. The route card is then stamped as proof of purchase.

Once 12 tapas and 3 cocktail venues have been visited, the tapas route card can participate in a prize draw, with 1000 euros cash being the top prize on offer:

1st Prize - 1000 euros in cash

2nd Prize - A night in a 4 or 5 star hotel

3rd prize - Television

4th prize - case of wines and bottle of cava

5th Prize - Selection of prizes from Mahou beer

6th prize - Lot of Coca cola products

7th Prize - Case of wines.

These route cards are admitted up to the 8th March and should be deposited in the voting urns in the establishments or tourist office.The prize draw will take place on the 12th March at 12 Midday.

Don´t forget to fill in the telephone number and name section in the route card, as the winner will be called by phone as the draw is made, and if they fail to answer, the prize will be re-drawn!

And don´t forget, there is no panic to get around 12 bars in one day, as the route lasts for 2 weeks, so participants can take their time in sampling the gastronomic delights of Alhama de Murcia.
